Manifest Destiny, Take 2.

So, I found some photos from our adventures to El Paso (we went from January 13th - 19th)... Meagan and I ended up traveling through nine states via her little car that could, and Elizabeth, a measly eight (pssh, what an amateur). Sara couldn't come because of the ridiculous responsibilities that come with adulthood, blech... but we forged on one fruit short of a basket :(.

First stop, from the beautiful state of Virginia to North Carolina, where we picked Elizabeth up and kidnapped our beloved Shmanna to experience for the first time (dun dun duuuun...) DONUT WORLD. Of course, when Elizabeth described it on the phone, she made it sound like DISNEY (... and not like a dinky asian-owned and operated donut shop in a janky strip mall), so we came in with pretty high expectations, but the maple raised donut certainly did not disappoint, allowing me to overlook the whole "What's That Supposed to Mean" factor.

uhhh, YEEEESSSSSSS...

Then, we drove on through six more states (Shep has all the photos, so don't hold your breath...) and ended up in El Paso, TX... home of Momma and Poppa Shep. We stayed at their resort of a home for three of the shortest days of my liiiife, then had to tear ourselves away from the lap of luxury and back to real life. :/

This is their backyard...

I know, it's disgusting.

While in El Paso, we decided to make a go for another state, so we headed to New Mexico, where Shep and Elizabeth navigated some monster white sand dunes, I had a panic attack (but decided to do it anyway) and we took about 2,000 photos (all on Shep's SWANKY new camera).

On the way back from New Mexico, we drove by El Paso's famous pecan orchards (the largest in the nation, if not the WORLD) and made a pit stop at State Line for some amazing BBQ and Sweet Tea.

Despite all of the trials (Jackson, Mississippi... remind me to tell you the story sometime), tribulations (... having to struggle through a pit stop in Dallas for a 2-hour tour of Cowboys Stadium), and challenges (running out of Salt & Vinegar chips, and having to say our goodbyes to Shep & Co.)... I would do it again in a heart beat.

Nothing like experiencing a road trip across America to make you appreciate your bestest friends in the world, some of the most breathtaking landscapes America's got to offer, and a niiiiice long shower at the end of each day (THANK YOU Holiday Inn Express! - I hope you didn't think we'd be "roughing it" by any means!).
