Day One

So we actually did do more than just eat doughnuts on our trip - we had a busy 48 hours!

Joey took us to breakfast, dropped us off and after a short flight, we were in Chicago! Planes are awesome, huh?

Sheppy toting around our bags (lesson learned - the pebbled leather bag without wheels is being retired after this trip)

When we landed, I was checking my email and had gotten an email from Tasting Table about a Thai place that's a must try, so we hailed a cab and made ATK our first stop in the Windy City!

We tried the dish featured in Tasting Table - the Crispy On Choy (tempura watercress, shrimp, ground chicken, mint, onion, and a spicy chili paste) and gave it two thumbs up. They weren't lying, this dish is worth the trip alone.

I also got my go-to green curry with tofu, which was also delish.

After lunch, we checked into our hotel, took a little cat nap, and then we were off to the spa for an hour of being massaged like Kobe Cattle and then manicures and pedicures.

It was amazing.

After two hours at the spa, our appetites found us again and we decided to check out Giordano's for their famous deep-dish pizza!

That's the stuff.

I get the obsession now - this stuff is amazing. Thin layer of crust at the bottom, cheese, cheese, more cheese, sauce, and toppings (we chose the ham and pineapple).

How can one go back to regular pizza after this experience?? I do not know.

And that was Monday in a nutshell. We went back to the hotel and slept like rocks! (The beds at the Raffaello are the BEST.)

We need to find good deep-dish here. I've been so sad since my one experience with it.
