Times Are A Changin'
Bald Head isn't what it used to be… don't get me wrong, it's still amazing, but things are definitely different.
We started off like we always do, with a pit stop at BOJANGLE'S!!! And since they've decided to class up their establishments, I can no longer get temporary tattoos here :(
Ford Escapes were built for Bojangle's.
Bo-Rounds <3*
*The photo of the Bo-Rounds was taken on our return trip… I wasn't going to admit that we went twice within a week… but you know how I roll.
For starters, I'm still having trouble settling in to the new port… the guys that work there are better looking than I remember (which is great), but they also decided to up the cost of the ferry - which probably covers the cost of the ridiculously good looking staff. The price you pay for eye candy, I suppose.
Bald Head is still as gorgeous as ever!
And we still start with a round of Margaritas!
Eb and Flo's Steambar is now Mojo's on the Harbor - that'll take some getting used to!
The hushpuppies are still AMAZING
Liz and her usual Steampot.
Uhhh… Fried Chicken Mondays?!?! We were tipped off by Liz's grandmother about the Pelicatessen serving the best fried chicken evaaaa on Monday nights. We must have called the Pelicatessen at least three times to confirm. Finally, it was Monday night and BY GOLLY, Betty was right.
Imagine perfectly fried chicken with a dash of Old Bay. Mmmmm.
This year, I ran on vacation. Twice. I also got attacked by some Sand Spurs, which makes me think running on vacation/the beach is a terrible idea.
This year, we came without bacon (!) and cookie dough (!!).
Turkey Meatballs were added to the annual BHI menu.
As were brown sugar glazed turkey sausages.
And we went Whole Wheat… baby steps.
Any time awake is no longer spent working on puzzles, but watching Gilmore Girls. All the time. Unless football is on.
Just hanging out with the girls on ferry ride back from Bald Head.
And probably the greatest change of all is hitting Bald Head in October! Uh… it's amazing (besides the rain on the last day). The weather was perfect - sunny and breezy, which means I've got a pretty stellar tan/burn.
Perfect!
See ya next year Bald Head!
