The Top of the Class

Omg. I'm drooling. After a bump in the road (an un-named pain in my side), I'm stepping back into the spectator sport of fashion stalking.

Pre-Fall is delish - I want every pair of shoes from the Lanvin show, absolutely ADORE (should be no surprise) Monique Lhuillier's couture-worthy frocs, Reem Acra's use of COLOR, and Matthew Williamson's trousers.

Let us review my
Super-Favs for Pre-Fall 09:

Lanvin

Matthew Williamson

Monique Lhuillier

(the polar opposite of the Dark Ages Theme that Lanvin went with)

(I had to put my eyeballs back in their sockets after I saw this beauty)

Oscar de la Renta

LOVE IT.

dear joann,

i like the last two of oscar's dresses,
all except the first one (unless it was made floor-length because those tights or boots or whatever were heinous and no one would actually wear them with a ball gown unless they were demented) of monique lhuillier,
the first, second, and last of matthew williamson,
and everything reem acra except the second from the top (what sort of body could be flattered in a dress like that?) and the last (i have a feeling i'd be fond of it if it were in a color other than baby poop khaki/mushroom).
love,
anna

p.s. i think i love michelle obama's inauguration gown, with the exception of the overly-thick one-shoulder strap. it looks like it was just plopped on there, at least from the picture i saw on people.com. it just looks awkward. also, loved her dress for the swearing in.

Me too! I wonder who designed her church/tea suit. This is exactly why we need to go to a fashion show together.

this just in - ball dress may have been meant to be strapless, but the guitar strap was added to ensure the dress would stay on. Also, kudos to Kate Walsh who CLEARLY reads my blog, fell in love with the Monique Lhuillier dress in this post, and therefore chose to wear it at one of the inaugural balls tonight. You're welcome Kate.
